UK government announces UK Compute Roadmap and CAKE

The UK government has announced the Compute Roadmap which details the future for HPC and AI. As part of this EPCC, who host ARCHER2 the current UK national supercomputing service, have been announced as the UK’s first national supercomputing centre. Investments include up to £2 billion, with £1 billion to expand the AI Research Resource 20-fold by 2030.

At the same time, UKRI have announced several investments that they have made including this knowledge exhange network CAKE, five Digital Research Technical Professional (DRTP) Skills NetworkPlus grants, and two new national hubs that will provide a training curriculum, career pathways and a talent pipeline bridging data, software and hardware development, as well as fostering engagement with large-scale UK and international initiatives.
